IMPORTANT DEFINITIONS ABOUT THE SHAPE


✔ SHAPE: It is the external appearance of an object or element in a image.
✔ NATURAL SHAPE: They are the ones related to the nature. They haven't been created by human.
✔ ARTIFICIAL SHAPES/FREE FORMS: They are shapes that have irregular profile or silhouettes as well as their inner surface. Organic shapes whose are usually natural even though they are sometimes unusual. 
✔ GEOMETRIC SHAPES: Shapes whose parts follow a mathematic order, laws or pattern.
✔ FORM: They are volumetri shapes, they appear and they are 3 dimensional.

IMPORTANT DEFINITIONS ABOUT THE COLOUR


COLOUR: It is a basic element of visual language. It is a light expression that arrives to the eyes which send the information to the brain.
PIGMENT: It is the sustance that make materials for paint and the origin can be mineral, animal or vegetal.
HUE: Also called Tone or tint, it is the name of the colour defined by its wavelength.
SATURATION: Degree of purity of a colour. If a colour is very saturated it means that is very pure and doesn't have many colours in its mix.
VALUE: Sometimes called brightness or luminosity. It is the amount of black or white that a colour has in its mix.
✔ COMPLEMENTARY COLOURS: They are pairs of colors which, when combined or mixed, cancel each other out by producing a grayscale color like white or black.
 WARM RANGEIt is a scale of colours that has more yellow or magenta or both in its mixture than cyan. They express warm energy.
 COLD RANGEIt is a scale of colours that has more cyan in its mixture than any other colour. They transmit the temperature sensation of cold. GREY SCALE: It is a set of colours which only has any colour between black and white, it contains a scale of greys.

THE LINE

LINE: It can be defined as a dot in movement. It has a position a direction in the space and one of its principal function consist on marking the shapes outlines.
HATCHING: It’s a way of shading or giving tones to the areas of objects or surfaces with parallels lines.
CROSS HATCHING: It’s a way of shading areas of drawing or surfaces with parallels lines in several directions.
DASHED LINES: They are lines which aren’t continuous formed by little traces or dots.
BLURRED: They’re very soft or vanished so they’re  hard to see and opposite to intense and deep.

IMPORTANT DEFINITIONS ABOUT SYMMETRY

SYMMETRY: It is the quality of some shapes which some of their parts are reflections of others.
REFLECTION SYMMETRY: It is a shape’s quality which is formed by two halves facing each other with an axis or fold line in between as if both sides were mirror images of each other.
SYMMETRY AXIS: It is a line which divides a shape into two symmetric halves. Symmetric points are on perpendicular line to it.
CENTRAL SYMMETRY:  It is the reflection of an object through a point called symmetry center. Symmetric pair of points are collinear with the center.

DOT


DOT: It’s the smallest and the simplest element in art expression. It may have differents qualities such us size, shape and colour.
   
THE DOT THREE DIMENSIONAL CAPACITY: When the size, shapes and colours are changed, the dos can create visual sensations of special deepness and volume.
  
THE DOT EXPRESSVE CAPACITY: The point has a ulimited capacity to represent images to express ideas and emotions.

OPTICAL MIX: When colours are mixed with the help of distance. Point isn’t mixed on the palette or on the painting. The optical mix was used first the pointillism.
